THE ROSS COMPANY, AFRICA, is an independently owned tour company based in Nairobi, Kenya. We specialize in custom designed and personally guided safaris throughout east and southern Africa. The company operates unique and highly informative safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Zaire, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. The Ross Co. has its own fleet of custom designed 4x4 vehicles, canvas tented camps, highly trained field and office staff, and even owns and operates its own airplanes. However, what really makes us special is our guides; they are the best in the field. All the guides live in Kenya, speak the language, and have studied extensively in such fields as Biology, Zoology, Anthropology, Ornithology, and Plant Taxonomy And most importantly, they all love to teach and share the wonder that drew them to this part of the world.

PERSONALIZED ITINERARIES ARE OUR SPECIALTY

We inquire before the trip as to what special interests you have, what you are looking for on your trip, and then design and tailor the itinerary accordingly Our company delights in the unusual. We go everywhere from private ranches to private deluxe camps, from mountain gorilla treks to horseback and camel safaris. You can climb Mt. Kilimanjaro or scuba dive in the Indian Ocean, go trout fishing or white water rafting, do a foot safari, or sail for days in the Dhows of old. Informal discussions on wildlife, game tracking, local people, history and botany, make your safari an enlightening and enjoyable learning experience. We have hundreds of extremely satisfied guest, many of whom return time and again, from all over the world to share another safari with us. WHAT MAKES THE ROSS COMPANY AFRICA, DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SAFARI COMPANIES?

The reason is that we truly are exclusive, private and very personal. We have
exclusive leases in a number of Kenya's premier game parks. We often utilize
private ranches and private game sanctuaries. We truly do customize every safari just for each individual group, alone. We don't take out huge groups, and we stay well away from overcrowded, touristy areas. We specialize in smaller groups, personalized trips, where you help plan the safari, going where you want to go, at a leisurely pace. Above all, our guides are the most knowledgeable, and best trained, in the business. To make your trip to East Africa as enjoyable as possible we can fly you to each destination in our own aircraft (also specially modified for the African bush). We know your trip has time imitations, so instead of wasting endless hours or even days, of driving from one park to the other, we can fly you if you so desire. Most destinations are approximately an hour flight; which, by car, can easily require a day of incredibly rough bouncing and dust. And there is no better vantage point for viewing the splendors of Africa than from above. With this increase and ease of time and range available your safari can be more varied and exciting, including more, yet still traveling at an easy pace. Our pilots ARE guides, and are all commercially rated professional pilots with years of bush flying experience.

TO PLAN A SAFARI...

Let us know the time of year you wish to come, how long you can say, the number of people in your group, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, what your are specifically interested in seeing and doing. If your are unfamiliar with Africa and don't really know all the options available allow us to suggest some itineraries, and detailed descriptions. In spite of its higher expense, camping is truly the way to see Africa. However, we can happily arrange and conduct safaris using lodges as well. You can choose between four wheel drive vehicles or minibuses, fly between game parks, or go by road
